On Monday, 15 July, Conrad Boychuk, a Canadian architect and a member of the Executive Board of the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS International), along with Zbigniew Klonowski, the President of IAKS Poland, visited GDYNIA Sports & Show Arena. The aim of the visit was to evaluate the quality of architectural design and operational efficiency of our Arena as a contestant in the Competition for The Best Sports and Leisure Facilities. The contest has been jointly held since 1987 by IAKS International, the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee and Mr Conrad Boychuk is a member of its jury.
GDYNIA Sports & Show Arena is among the three Polish venues (and the only sports and show arena) nominated to enter this international competition – the most prestigious contest among stadiums, arenas and sports centres from around the world. Two other nominees are football stadiums: the National Stadium in Warsaw and PGE Arena Gdansk. Competition results will be announced during 23rd IAKS Congress held in Cologne (Germany) from 22 to 25 October, 2013.
